This blog post is a long time coming! Mallory and Bo's Wedding is one that I will always remember because of this first photo. I can't help but think of heaven every time I see it! Their wedding at Douglas Manor is one of the most special weddings we have been blessed to be a part of and I am so excited today is the day we are sharing all these gorgeous photos with the world!
Interestingly, the photographer, (one of our favorites!) Allison Lewis Photography, was willing to share her thoughts with us about what our pews added to this special wedding day! Please read her eloquent and thoughtful answers below while enjoying her pictures!
How did our church pews affect the atmosphere of this outdoor wedding?
"One of the things i loved most about having PEWS at Mallory and Bo's wedding was how beautifully the pews played into the unity of their families and friends. Mallory and Bo's families have such a uniquely close relationship with one another and seeing them all sit together on the pews - hand-in-hand, arms around one another - reminded me of the level of intimacy they share. For those girls who really desire for their ceremony to be in a church, it doesn't get more perfect than God's gorgeous creation - and church pews!"
In what ways are pews different than chairs for photographing?
"The difference between photographing chairs vs. pews is distinct and clear...chairs are functional; pews are art; I try to include photos of every single detail from a bride and groom's wedding day; after all, those are the details they chose to represent them and their love for one another. Church pews are such an amazing and creative way to add to the overall beauty of a ceremony site, and i'm always thrilled when i know a bride has chosen to include them in the design of her wedding day. "
What did the guests think of our church pews?
"For many of the guests, they had never seen church pews provided as seating at an outdoor wedding and I heard countless oohs and aahs as I roamed throughout the group. Not only do couples, their families, and their guests love the look, they adore the intimate atmosphere it helps create as well. "
As a photographer, would you encourage brides to have pews at wedding? Why or why not?
"I LOVE to tell my brides about PEWS!!! Having pews at your wedding creates a standout feature that everyone loves, it adds so much to the atmosphere and decór, and selfishly for me, it provides an amazing backdrop for many other details of a couple's wedding day...as well as a gorgeous standalone masterpiece."
